I didn’t shoot the sheriff or the deputy but I have felt a bit guilty this week for not posting my usual amount of new jewels in the Etsy shop! I have a bit of a commitment next week and I’ve been hoarding MOST of the jewelry I’ve finished last week and this week.
Pocatello, in an effort to support the arts in our little town, has an art walk scheduled in Old Town every first Friday of every month. I’ve been pondering, for some time now, about finding a boutique host where I can set up my work for the locals to see. What with the start of school and my constant meanderings through the fine arts building on campus I’ve fully realized I’m on an island off the shoreline of the local artist community here in town, or in Idaho for that matter! My debut at First Friday in Pocatello is an attempt to swim the narrow channel across to the mainland and give myself a face here in town.
These necklaces (ocean jasper, labradorite and rhodochrosite) and many, MANY more will all make an appearance on the first Friday of March in Old Town Pocatello. I’m a bit nervous, as I always am in the face of any public debut but I know the feeling is unfounded since any individuals I have ever come in contact with while wearing or presenting my work have been of the Capital A+ sort.
This is all to say that while I may seem like a slacker this week, I have in fact been quite prolific in my studio. In point of fact, I crafted 12 necklaces yesterday and 6 pairs of earrings. The good news is that after the art walk, many of my new designs from last week and this week will find their way into the Etsy shop!
I do have a few new designs to put in the shop today and will attempt to photograph and list them after I finish this bloggo.
It’s fresh baked bread,
hot coffee,
and a cozy front room here at Plume Gables.
And I hope it’s a happy Friday where you are!
PS
The view from my studio window yesterday:
I’m telling you, snow flakes the size of persian cats!
PSS I’ve just been reading the recent Etsy feedback some of you have left me and
it simply enforces the fact that I work for some of the greatest
ladybirds and gentlebeards on all of the face of Earth.
I read each and every word you write.
Thank you.
Have FUN lady and may this new endeavor be more successful for you than my last local public jewelry display… Perhaps the Pokeys are a bit more appreciative of fine craftsmanship than a a few folks I’ve encountered ’round these parts???
Soak up the praise and ogling… I know there will be plenty of BOTH headed your way!!! 🙂
Good luck in presenting your art/jewelry to the locals. I stumbled across your blog while reading the daily coyote and I wanted to let you know that I find your entries very refreshing and uplifting. I always look forward to reading your blog and your creations are absolute eye candy! Much love and appreciation from a red dirt girl (that’s an Oklahoman) and may you continue to be blessed with happiness and creativity!
It’s so cold here Jill – minus 37 celcius WITHOUT the windchill this morning!! My kitchen is so cold I turned on the over for a while to heat things up! BRRRRRRRRRR!
I mean I turned on my oveN!! you know what I meant….
i think these new necklaces may be some of your best work! i also know you will be highly succesful, and never, under any circumstance, under-estimate your own abilities and talents!
btw, it was 87 degrees and sunny here in texas yesterday…i was in a tank top and linen pants…not to rub it in or anything ;o)
eve
Well, lucky Pocatellans, that is what I say, to have a chance at seeing your jewels and yourself at the same time. And, as you have no doubt, they will love everything as I DO I DO I DO.
The view is gorgeous, such vivid green…coffee, I can even smell it…did you say bread…I am drooling now….all the necklaces and earrings….
I have a busy busy Friday so much so that I may not be able to be the first to see your postings but I sure will try.
Heaps of love…
oh, that labradorite necklace…scrumptious! love from sunny stoon
xo
Wow, I love these necklaces (esp the lab one). Lucky Pokeys who get to see and feel your new designs first! Good luck!
Good luck at your first outing, I’m sure they will just adore you!
That labradorite necklace is scrumptious!
Oh Jillian, I hope you enjoy yourself at your first, First Friday! I was excepted to my first Juried Art Festival today so I understand your qualm. I started participating locally for exactly the same reason and have met many wonderful people! Bask in your new found fans, there will be many!
Best wishes!
those wild necklaces are to die for–and the comanche that sold in your shop–they scream to be worn with a racerback tank and a tan!
Emmitta-De-Larita: I think it’s going to be QUITE fun. My venue is hosting an 8 piece band as well as a photographer in the rear gallery. It should be a blast and I must confess, I don’t really care if I sell anything:) I actually had the same taste of public jewelry display fiasco in Arizona as you had recently in Iowa and as disturbing as it was, I’m fairly confident that the Art Walk in Pokey draws people who are actually interested in art and crafts! Shall I fly you over to me so you can perch with me at my petit table?
Please???
🙂
Red Dirt: Thanks for this lovely little comment and give my love to Ooooooooooklahoma (where the wind comes sweeping down the plains…)!
Jenn: Oh my goodness. Well. I am officially spoiled rotten with the weather we’ve been having here. It’s been on again off again cold and then melty and then warm and breezy and then windy-wind-like-knives-of-ice-cold…but I have nothing to complain about compared to you! Keep yourself and Chloe warm!!!
Eve: Thanks! And good grief, I hope you’re applying the SPF:)
M: I sure do wish you’d come for coffee this morning. Teaching virtue classes in the park today??? XO
Jordan: Back from Banff? Welcome home! I was just telling someone about your HORSE (dog) yesterday. Hope he’s well! Love to you.
Elaine: Thanks little hen.
Good Girl: You are SUCH a good girl. Thanks for the encouragement.
Bees: Thanks so much for the encouragement! It’s sweet as honey!
Fuss: Oh that Comanche. it was my favorite. Thanks for being so sweet! And OH FOR THAT SUMMERTIME racerback! I can’t wait!
Good luck at the art walk Jillian!!! FABULOUS new pieces!!!!
