Penelope the Barbarian

Pie can be quite the cuddly thing.  Her fur is so soft, she feels like a clipped chinchilla and more than anything, she likes to snuggle.  She likes to snuggle so much that at 3AM every night this past week she has started whining and groaning and begging to be let into bed which results in her sleeping on her own in the laundry room (we refuse to indulge her small dog syndrome and will only give her snuggle invitations when she is being very good and very quiet…she’s much less annoying that way).  Don’t feel sorry for her.  She’s a spoiled little weenie-bebe.

This week while I was up in the hills for a ramble I found a heap of deer bones.  Farley and Penelope were sniffing and licking the pile of junk and Farley even picked up a length of vertebrae to carry around in his mouth for a while.  I picked up a femur and carried it home for the dogs to chew on in the yard.
Yesterday the femur made its way inside and Penelope unleashed her inner barbarian.

The bone is larger than she.
It’s quite hysterical to see her drag it around.  She tried to pull it under the couch yesterday to keep it away from Farley but it wouldn’t fit.

She’s as wolfish as Charlie when it comes to her bone chewing instincts.  All her daintiness goes straight out the window when she gets to work on the femur.  I wish you could see her in action!
[For those of you who find ME rather barbaric
for dragging part of a deer carcass down from
the hills for my dogs to gnaw on, I cannot
apologize for my actions, because I think it’s
fairly normal and downright practical.  Doesn’t everyone
drag dead stuff around for their pets to gnaw on???
A deer femur is bound to be better for a
dog than that rawhide junk.
We’ll ask Jordan, one of the best vets I know.
JORDAN…WHAT DO YOU THINK?!!!]

Lastly,
I caved last night and rewarded myself for being such a sassafrass with this Mothra Brooch from
shavingkitsupplies on Etsy.  I’ve had this baby in my Etsy favorites for what seems like
months and while I was torn between this brooch and the luna moth brooch
the grey mothra won out in the end.
Have I told you about my brooch collection?
It’s becoming quite grand.
Despite it’s grandness, and the regularity with which I wear everything in my collection, RW still says, “What is that thing you have on?  A brooch?  Does anybody even wear those things anymore???”
He’s such a sass.
Happy Friday to you all!  The tulips and daffodils are popping here.
All my friends are having babies.
The deer are eating the tops off my tulips at night.
I like peanut butter.
Love and flight feathers,
THE PLUME
