Yarnbow

Truth be told, I’m not a very good yarn-stress though I do enjoy the clash of the needles from time to time. What I REALLY dig is a trip to the yarn shop. I don’t usually purchase anything while I’m perusing the skeins there, I mostly go to rub up against the color spectrum.

If I can pick up a handful of skeins and actually see the colors in my hands, it aids my imagination even further when it comes to stone combinations and just general color combinations in life. The colors at the yarn shop are bigger than bright. To see that much rainbow in such a small space makes my heart feel like it’s popping out skittles with each beat.

I like to see what my jewelry looks like up against a combination of colors, colors I would call:
south face of the tree trunk
tired cheat grass
in the nest
liquid sunshine
feeling oh so
elderly lady lavender hair
a dash of poupon
Does anyone else like color as much as I do?
Fess up.
Hope your weekends were delish. I’m off to lunch now and then a steady afternoon stint in the studio. Cheerio little tweedleydees!

    Life is good!!

  2. Wowzer—and yummy delish! Nothing like colour to inspire the senses. I AM a yarn-stress…and knit a fair bit…but only very special items for very special people. If it's easy–I don't knit it;) I love silk yarns to knit with too:)

  3. Oh I adore color. The brighter the better (but mostly just for my accessories).HOT PINK & a deep purple are my favorites by far… I also love knitting. I'm working on a hat now for my man, its my first attempt with circular needles.. its taking me so long though! Poor guy he may not get to wear it until next year :o)
I'd love to see some of the things you've knitted!
Weekend was great, we spent it hiking in the woods.. loved it!

I love Autumn and the colors of Autumn – green, gold, red and all of their variations. And then turquoise pops wonderfully against those colors.

I have yarn for a hat and scarf that I bought early last Winter before a forecast cold, rainy weekend – for a hat and scarf – the yarn is still in the bag :(.

I love color more than you do…is that possible? oui, I say. I have yarn but don't know how to knit, I have color pencils but don't know how to draw, I have paint but no clue how to paint, I have play dough, I put colored things in my mouth and sometimes I shouldn't… what a splendid idea to display your creations in a rainbow, yarnbow….

    xo

  6. Yes. You've caught me. I'll fess up. I'm a color-holic.

    Shucks.

    🙂

  7. I confess, I felt my heart race a little seeing your pictures in a yarn shop – Oh, the color, the textures, the possibility. I'm learning metalsmithing and crochet and knitting all at a snail's pace, but I'm hoarding stones and yarn like there's no tomorrow. Maize, periwinkle, turquoise, burnt sienna….color is poetry in its simplest form.

    1) I LOVE my yarn shop. Not only for it's old store feel but also it's name: Chix with Stix. http://www.chixwithstixknitting.com/

    2) The last time I was there trying to pick out yarn for a baby blanket it took me longer than I'm willing to admit publicly to pick out a color. Seriously, it was ridiculous. I could just look at them all for hours. How do you choose one color over another?

  9. Oh, be still my heart! It's like scrumptious food for my eyes (and SOUL). I am truly a color-aholic. I confess. The brighter the better. Whenever I see people in public wearing something bright and catchy I can not stop myself from beaming from ear to ear. 🙂

PS. I like to hold my jewelry up to colors too and see what beautiful combos I can find!

  10. i LOVE color! I will admit that any day of the week, and anyone who knows me, knows that color is my favorite. I love how color transforms all the other colors around it, sets a mood, and inspires ideas.

    Oh my gosh!
I had NO idea some of you were such coloraholics!!! I'm in SUCH WONDERFUL company!!! You delight me. Truly.

  12. Love, love, love colorful places and things – especially full of reds, turquoise, sea glass greens & blues and kelly green.

I started to knit last year and although I've only managed a few scarves, I couldn't be happier with my basket full of beautiful yarn that sits neatly by my fireplace. Hey, it's a conversational piece at least. 😉

…oh…and don't forget to add a bit of silver & carnelian to the color wheel…

your post was a pleasure to read, as always, mrs. plumage ^_^

  15. Oh! Those colours are so gorgeous, yay for pretty colour spectrums! 🙂

  16. thewindhover says

Mrs Plume, you know I'm addicted to colour too – which is why I think we get along so well (along with all the other brilliant madness) – at the moment favourite colours being:
cerulean blue, and prussian (always), nettle green, and the gingery golden of my new love's beard (more on this soon)…

  17. Color me too…in broad swathes or bright flashes against neutral backgrounds. Sometimes I can almost taste colors with my retinas!

  18. The Noisy Plume: says

"Sometimes I can almost taste colors with my retinas!"

    WOW! You're in deep D!

And Hover, Gingery golden? Yum please. XO

  19. okay…your 'colour name'…elderly lady lavender hair…is making me giggle. a lot!

i swim 3-4 times /week…long 1000-3000 metre swims…the chlorine turns my hair green…the shampoo / conditioner used to correct it is a deep purple/blue. my mom has snow white hair and i use it on her once a week to remove any yellow/brassy tones.

evidently…i left the conditioner in too long…whilst scrubbing chlorine off my skin…and my hair—is—GULP—

    ELDERLY LADY LAVENDER!

I am to soak it in lemon juice tonight…

  20. The Noisy Plume: says

GUFFAW!!!!!!!!!!! Don't worry….Farley is too. I shampooed him with blue last night…..he's the laughing stock of the dog-erhood.

  21. your guffaw–wins a tiny girl-*snort* from moi! a great pair, Farley and I…we deserve a special portrait session…of the…the elderly mauve-haired society!

  22. Trippy.

  23. Oh boy, it's now or never.

I feel I MUST confess I am currently OBSESSED with a color combo of hot pink and powder blue.
    Yeesh! So girly it hurts.

Now that that's off my chest!
I'm off to play with my spider
and then a ride on the longboard.
    =)

  24. The Noisy Plume: says

    You have a spider???

  25. Miss Selah is taunting me again! I could have SWORN that you mentioned TWO Selah rings to be listed on Monday. I stalked your Etsy shop, and the first one came and went and was too large for me…and then I refreshed the screen all day like a mad person, and no second Selah. I'm sad…and I've been craving my very own beautiful red ring for months now. Hopefully it will be a case of all good things come to those who wait… 🙂

  26. The Noisy Plume: says

Don't be sad! There IS another Selah and my listing for the week won't be over until Thursday:) Plus, the Selah you seek is slightly discounted for a rinky tinky reason so snaggle it up on Thursday when I list it!
    XO

  27. haha
yes, I know it sounds weird.

But it's great therapy for any arachnophobes such as myself. "Horton" is a peach of pet.. spins a beautiful orb daily (above my basil outside) and tends to stay put and not roam about -which I like. AND he's happy to take those obnoxious house flies off my hands, hence the "playing".

Oh. And since I might be ruining the lovely color topic with all my spider talk. Horton is a fuzzy, fat, "golden wheat" color.
    😀

  28. Oh, wonderful news about Thursday's listing, Miss Plume! If I don't get Selah this time, it won't be for a lack of trying! I've got to catch up on your glorious blog…I've been out of touch for a few months. 🙂

  29. The Noisy Plume: says

    Oh.
Horton sounds like a delight. I grasp the idea behind spider therapy since I'm in snake therapy with my neighbor Sue….she's got some slitheries over there. Her ENORMOUS boa constrictor escaped a few weeks ago, crossed the street and tried to eat Penelope……I'm back to square one when it comes to the therapy bit….

  30. The Noisy Plume: says

….it takes a brave woman to face her fears:)

  31. …yes indeedy!

BUT if Horton tried to eat my pups then all bets would be off!! =)

  32. The Noisy Plume: says

…that's right sister. Let no one come between momma and the pups.
