EEK!

Oh good morning, my doves.
It is so peaceful here…one of those fall mornings that requires a long hot shower for a warm-up in the morning. What’s your shower quirk? I take a cup of coffee or tea in with me and whilst deep conditioning, I like to water the three ferns and orchid that sit on the shelf at the end of the tub. Yes. I shower with houseplants.
I’m about to head for the Etsy shop and pop some pretty items on the shelves for you. The few I’d like to preview for you are a couple of my favorite things I made yesterday:

The Desert Breathes Ring

featuring a simply set Owyhee Jasper (from right here in the Owyhee Valley of Idaho). This particular cabochon features towering white spruces in a caramel and teal landscape. The dome is high and juicy on this baby — just the way I like my Owyhee (I’m really rather picky).

A ring in a similar design to the necklace I made a few weeks ago. This big bauble is a shadowbox and has been extensively forged so that little frame that holds everything together is NOT going to bend on you should you whack it on a Pekingese or a St. Bernard. It’s built of sterling silver and 14 carat gold. All components were hand cut and forged by me. I like to cook from scratch and smith from scratch.

Oh geez.
I showed you this ring in my last blog post. It’s a new design I dreamed up on the way home from Salt Lake City, Utah the other night. The idea hit me like my car was about to hit a mule deer. Do you know what I mean? A real lightning strike of a concept. It made my pulse race. It features a double decker bezel set button and a beautiful stichtite cabochon in violet and grape hues. The settings are surrounded by the sorts of bits and pieces you’d find draped around a forest floor. JUST LOVELY. It’s orientated a bit like a knuckle ring and rides three fingers. Tough as nails. Organic as heck. My personal design tastes are to make jewelry that’s inspired by nature — I want it to look like it just walked out of a forest or off the great plains. This ring has such a natural flair. I can’t wait to see who it belongs with.

This is another ring, in the same style as the stichtite baby above except this little fellow is set with ocean jasper. The back of this piece features a new idea I had as well…arcs. Hmmmm. Love that loopy doop that swings through the base of the ring band.

And a little Soul Garden Necklace. It’s not as embellished as my Soul Garden pieces usually are but I toned things down a bit because this ocean jasper cabochon is amazing! Gosh. Oh gosh. OH GOSH GOSH GOSH.
I love Monday.
I feel best when I wear magenta.
My toes are cold.
I’m drinking tea from my magic mug.
Do angels have toenails?
It is lunch but I’m going to eat breakfast.
I adore my vacuum.
The local charter school children are walking past my house.
My roses won’t quit blooming.
I have on my favorite jeans (but I spent $16 on mine).
I saw a barn owl last night, up close. Up VERY close.
You’re my favorites.
XO

A beautiful post…don't know what to say, perhaps only comment on first and last because the in-between, well ahem, is quite beautiful and requires no commenting!

I shower with two cats inspecting…try to make it fast because I worry about water a lot! And the cats want me out of there?!

    Love the funny owl…hee hee

  2. Those rings are A-M-A-Z-I-N-G!!! ALL of them! Phew! You rock!

  3. I love the new double decker buttons. I can't wait to see what else you do with them.

  4. wowEE do pretty things FLY off the shelves!!

    🙂

  5. oh i have such a soft spot for barn owls (owls of every type really). in particular i love barn owls because of the edward lear story 'the owl and the pussy cat'which stars such a fellow. do you know it? there's a line in it that say's 'they dined on mince and slices of quince, which they ate with a runcible spoon. And hand in hand, by the edge of the sand, they danced by the light of the moon'. so pretty right? and isn't runcible such a great word?! anyway, lovely jewels as usual – love you!

  6. A cat I knew used to hang out on the rim of the tub when I took a bath. Once, when I ducked my head underwater, she jumped in!…and then scrambled out real fast as I jumped up.

    Wonderful post, great work!

How did the owl encounter come about? Barn owls have such mystical faces.

I just smiled inside my soul! The ring I chose is for my soon-to-be birthday, and it's from hubby to me, that's all he needs to know about why I buy my art!
    🙂

My coffee cup would have to be sitting outside the shower stall, with a very long bendy straw!

I wonder if anyone on etsy sells super long bendy straws?

Toenails…wow…I would have never wondered, now I will…
Good to know someone appreciates their vacuum, mine sucks, in a very good way, but it's no Dyson!

Love, Love, Love. I really love the pod shadowbox ring…you never know when you're going to run up against a Pekingese or a St. Bernard.
I rescued a barred owl once, but he didn't make it, they had to put him down. 🙁

  9. I have a Dyson, too!

The amount of cat hair it sucked up in the living room the first day we used it was DISGUSTING!

You know… when I miss your shop updates, the only thing I can do to console myself is to flip through all your goodies and point out the fact that most of the rings are not in my size and therefore I would not have gotten them anyway….

It's not much of a consolation, not much at all.

    Lovely work as always, Plume.

  11. I HEART YOU.

i saw your post with my spastic face this morning. i think it's gone now.

    but i loved it.
    and i love you.

nous sommes ensembles toujours, mon amie.

I just love the spirit of your pieces , nabbing one of your pieces is a little bit like finding "wilters" in Faerieland. Ok I know that sounds complicated. ahem, but to the more important item, I am making tea and toast tonight with one fabulous jar of jam which arrived safely today , thanks so much , another sweet spot of light and love. 😉 Laura

MLJ: Thank you friend. And as for the owl….don't you mean hoo hoo?
    🙂

    Vita: Thanks toots! XO

Lisa: I cannot wait either! But I ran out of metal on Monday and I'm going to have to wait a little while, until the new material shipment arrives! Thanks sweets!

Lindsay: A bit shocking, isn't it? I can't get used it it!!!

JORDY! This is where my owl obsession came from (and my love for pea green…..). Thanks for the lovely quote you little fawn. XO

Sylvestris: I met him in the hills, flapping and flopping about in the scrub aspens. He had a face like a heart. So sweet.

Carolyn: Good question about the bendy straw AND glad you snaggled a ring! You've been a patient woman! XO

Willow: So sad about the owl…I tried to save one in Arizona once. I hit him with my truck on the canal road at night on the middle of the reservation. But in the end, he didn't want to be saved and the last I saw of him he was a tornado of wings and clacking beak bursting out of my arms into the night.

Thanks for loving the shadowbox pod ring! I did too:)

    Michele: All hail the Dyson!!!

Blossoms: Oh geez. SORRY! I've been trying to really switch up the sizing on the rings I'm making….trying to take account for the different fingers out there…I'll try even harder!
    XO

She: You are the only poet I know and I love your spastic face most of all.

Mountain: SO THRILLED that your hard won jam arrived and even gladder to hear that it is to your taste! What the HECK is a wilter. I'm going to go google it now.
    XO
