I designed this necklace before I left for Hawaii and finally whipped it up today whilst in the studio. It’s sizable and utterly one of a kind. Wheeeee!!!
The focal point of the pendant (there are three main sections to the pendant) is the actual shadow box that holds my cameo girl. She has her regular, funky beehive hairdoo but this time I’ve pinned those curls in place with a single buttercup.
From the base of the cameo dangles a bezel set cabochon of prehnite with suspended epidote needles. A scalloped base plate edge adds a bit of sass and further texturing on that base plate edge gives an extra pop to the satin finish of the setting.
Rising up from the shadowbox portion of the pendant are two branches I fabricated from scratch, forged, textured, carved and topped with small copper leaves. These are actually the bail points for the chain that wraps around to a sturdy lobster clasp and a extender chain that kicks the total chain length out to 19 inches (I think it wears best at 16 inches though).
The back of the shadowbox reads:
Climb a tree: Get closer to the heavens.
Have a lovely night my little quillynippers!
XO
PLUME
oh wow, I love the message it made me go all tingly. Absolutly divine in every sense. I hope you have a wonderful day full of lovely things.
gaaaaah! this piece is stunning!
(and i just wanted to say re: your other post… GOOD FOR YOU! post-secondary education isn't the be all and end all of life-furthering-experiences. if i had it to do over, i would seriously rethink doing university… and i'd listen to my heart. you ARE free!)
The copper leaves are so sweet & dainty! Love this piece, quite a statement!
"To thy own self be true, and it must follow, as the night the day, thou canst not then be false to any man."
I think that he may have been thinking of someone like you when he wrote those lines:)
I have climbed a lot of trees in my day and wholeheartedly recommend them as stairways to heaven…and as refuges, lookouts, writing/drawing roosts, and vantage points for heaving water balloons. Glad your sweet girl is wild too!
🙂
There you go again with your irresistable ladies! Is it the lady I am in love with, the hair special do, or the lady creatrice? All three perhaps! It is quite divine!

I love the mixture of metals and the prehnite is gorgeous~ The cameo is quite delightful also… It's an awesome necklace!
Girrrrrrls!!!
What lovely comments to wake up to! Thank you for loving on this little lady (and me). Now. I do have a question for you all, what would you name her???
I lean towards Beatrice or Ophelia…what do you think?
Plume,
The past few days have contained a number of things I have found so moving and with so much beauty that it makes my heart hurt and my eyes well up with tears of pure joy and love. Your pieces and words are hugely contributing to that welspring of emotion. Love the direction your soul is taking you!

ps – I'm off to find a tree to climb. Even in my boots and dress.

Thanks for being part of my life you lovely thing.

MAGDALENA.
gosh.
Absolutely lovely!
Stunning!
It takes a lot of grit to know what nourishes your soul and pursue it. I love metal and stone, I am a mere neophyte in the craft but does that make my enjoyment any less when I sit down to manifest? No , brava for knowing your heart and soul. xxx
Fiona or Phaedra
Phaedra……how tragic.
I actually feel a pang. A real life pang of awe and sadness that this piece is not mine! I am overwhelmed by a piece of jewelry…and that has never happened to me before!
Is it wrong that I sent my hubby a link to your shop and blog and said I would rather own a piece of jewelry from you then go away for the weekend for our anniversary? Well, actually I would rather do both but well…a girl has priorties! I have 2 boys and I want to be the cool grey-haired grandma with the awesome funky jewelry that gets passed on to equally cool and funky grandbabies. And with 2 boys I am already a tree climber…really! I'm a tree climber, creek wading, stone skipping, fishing (but cruelty free hook buying) girl.
I too am a neophyte when it comes to creating, but it gives me such pleasure and peace.
And owning a piece like this would give me peace too! However, I see her more as a Lyra.
Sigh…
