Yesterday I went walking
in the ice and snow
alongside my creek.
As it trailed down the mountainside, I trailed up,
lured by the music of water,
the juniper on the breeze,
the gentle sweep of sage against boots.
The wind smelled like a whisper
up there in the bird song.
My heart swam out of my chest,
a robust ribbon,
and suspended itself in the sunlight
that faded into narrow shafts of gleam
as it traveled down through a bony aspen canopy.
I like how P. Pie is like…."Eehhhmmm…."
I hope her balance is excellent!
These photos are lovely. Makes me want to go for a walk on the hillside myself. Except it's raining like The Day After Tomorrow here. I'd probably get blown off the slope! Thanks for sharing 🙂
Jillian…this poem….takes my breath away…
as read, I feel your solitude, and yet, your palpable connection with the sublime of nature….
The colorful cropping is clever, and I love that weiner pup (Ms Plume)

LOVE that last photo of you – it has an "Alice in Wonderland" vibe to it.
