The Here and Now:

I’ve been finding inspiration.

Popping up out of the earth.

The morning was damp with rain.
Overcast.
The wind whipped about in hobnailed boots.
But the afternoon has turned bright; rain clouds burned up under the eyes of the sun.
Everything with a heart of green is on the move again.

And I’ve been busy out in the studio for part of the day,
letting new ideas pop into bloom.

Singing in the sunshine as it pours through the window.

Waving my wings.
Tinkering about to Chopin and Jeff Buckley. Singing harmony to Fruit Bats, and more.
Tapping my feet and hammering to the beat.
Pressing my lips firmly together with each stroke of a file.

And now I’m going to go perch in the living room to read, write and watch the
sun go down over the mountains.

I think of you often, while I work.
Where did you find inspiration today?

So much inspiration today. All is green to the touch and the world is so busy! Canada geese finding open water, a red fox watching me watch him, turtle doves cooing to each other, racing Corgis, wind whipping my hat to the ground. Spring today. Snow tomorrow. Color returns to Colorado.

  2. Oh inspiration came in various ways with earth and succulents today, however, the greatest inspiration of the most beautifulicious kind came in my mailbox today…just a wee box with a sweet birdie on the side…my daughter knew i was waiting and let out a screech from the road…'it's here mum!'…were wonderful words to hear, but our real fun came in opening the package from you, oh dearest noisy plume, and finding a delicious treat accompanied by my most glorious bonbon earrings…to say i felt glamorous the rest of the afternoon is a mild understatment, simply divine and the swing and sway below my lobes is a treasure i have found and never realized i was missing! ohhh the inspiration!;) these california skies may be gray but inside this home in the country not far from the sea there is a warm and undeniable glow shining brightly. thank you is not enough.

Inspiration today in a negative feeling. Nothing so inspiring as knowing you are unhappy with the status of yourself…
    And so…
A gentle night before the work begins with the dawn (of tomorrow, of me…)

  5. In the fields which are suddenly the brightest shamrock green, in the soft halo of sunlight burning its way through the afternoon clouds, in the soft tinkle of my children's laughter and the clinking of coffee cups in my mom's kitchen.

You make the coolest things 🙂
Thanks for spreading the inspiratin around.

Today it was in the bare roots of the roses I just planted, the lovely purple blossoms of my new spanish lavender, the lines on my father's face as I watched him pat the earth into place, the satisfaction of knowing you are and are in Love….

the beauty of Spring and a good 28th year of life.

    Today was an excellent day.

  7. in the frenzy of the cold and windy rain, i found stillness today. and in a great big secret i can soon reveal, i found 6 year old glee. it's been a glorious monday!

Mmm, today my inspiration came from listening to music with my partner, talking about the structure & finding out why we like what we like. It was soothing & lovely.

    Dearest hummingbird,

My heart has weighed heavy of late but alas, the hope of Spring has lit me from within, truly. OHHH the sweetest smile from a chubby-cheek-ed babygirl in Costco today made my soul leap… the flap flap of filagree wings dancing 'round my shoulders made me glad to be alive… news from the farm(which makes me so veryveryvery bittersweetly homesick OH the green is growing as I type), along with 3 dozen eggs collected fresh this week brought to town by my father, bless his heart…..and ahhh, a glittering sunset promising hope as I say my thanks. love to all you beautiful birds today and tomorrow as well!

    On my gosh.
    You are such beautiful people.

Also. It snowed in the night.
And a few seconds ago, a small white feather drifted by the kitchen window, aloft in the springtime air.
    I'm in heaven.

  13. Sigh. Sometimes I find it hard with young children to find that time to be inspired by nature. I am rushing to work, rushing to gymnastics, rushing off to make dinner. Noses need wiped, teeth need brushed and horror of horrors…their Lego car broke apart. Again. (And those things are hard to get back together!)

Yet, I am lucky to live in a neighborhood with lovely trails through thick woods, and it leads to a creek! We have been going for walks almost every night through the woods, and I play this game with the boys… we sit down in the middle of the dusty trail and close our eyes and listen… Their eyes then pop open and they tell me what they think they have heard. "Mom, oh my gosh…that was a frog! Mom, was that a squirrel?" Sometimes, they have to keep saying my name though to wake me up because Mom is TIRED! 🙂

I think I am more inspired by the wonderment and excitement they feel over the squirrels and other forest creatures. Makes up for the Lego cars…
