Breaking The Fast

For breakfast this morning, the fridge was looking barren, so I stepped outside and picked tomatoes, warm off the vine, and collected eggs, warm from the coop:
I medium boiled the eggs (as in not hard, not soft), cut the tomatoes in two and added a side of avocado.
A dash of salt!
A dash of pepper!
A perfectly fresh and awfully gorgeous little meal!

I washed it down with a cafe au lait and a glass of carrot juice.
Yum.  Yum.  Yum.

What did you have for breakfast?
If yours wasn’t quite this delicious, you’re welcome to join me tomorrow!
I’ll be doing this again except I think I’ll add some basil, for good measure!

Tra la la!
xx

    Yummy!

I had red gooseberries, black currants, red currants (from the garden), thick Greek yoghurt, walnuts, sunflower seeds and some homemade blueberry jam =P–

    Oh man.
    Oh man.
Never mind breakfast at my house……that sounds divine!

  3. Lovely! My favorite kind of meal. You have no idea how envious I am of your fresh eggs! I just had some (not my) homemade salsa that someone brought in the office….for a few moments I can pretend I am out in the sun rather than stuck at a desk!!

I had homemade potato chips that my husband had bounded out of bed to make, 4 oz of coffee with sugar and milk and a saucer, a plum, and a very large bowl of bran cereal. Not quite as good as yours. But I'm having vegetable tart for lunch and homemade borscht for supper…

Note: The borscht is VERY homemade. As in homemade (by me) chicken stock. As in beets and carrots from my Opa's garden. As in green onions that Tim and I walked for miles to buy. As in a secret and impromptu recipe all my own.

But now I am thinking about breakfast tomorrow. And I think it is already cold enough here to be thinking of porridge with blueberries and cinnamon.

Emmy: DELISH!!!!!!! I'm going to make salsa later today….I'm going to can some in a couple of weeks! WHEEEEE!

Lizzy of the Long Neck: I didn't know it yesterday, but I just found out a few minutes ago, we're best friends.

You all had lovely breakfasts…I was chez Starbucks + walnut zucchini muffin : )

  7. And maybe a little extra virgin? And a DROP of balsamic?

  8. yes yes yessssssssss! medium boiled eggs are the bestest. your tomatoes look just LOVELY – i hope they're as delicious as the ones that are popping off our vine… (i am mighty jealous of fresh eggs)

for breakfast this morning, i had noodles in soup (yes! noodles in soup! comfort food for me, and my man (who did NOT grow up with this asian craziness) is starting to agree!). he made a whackload of pho broth the other day (from beef bones and spices browned in the oven – lemon grass, ginger, star anise, cinnamon and the like), so we had it with bean sprouts and basil (from the garden) with rare beef sliced thinly. hooray!

Oats lightly cooked with milk, walnuts, blueberries, bananas.

My standby–but oh, those sun-warmed eggs and tomatoes look mighty fine, especially with avocado!

Also love tomato-basil sandwiches with olive-oil mayo.

Shared an Eggs Benedict Sampler with my sister in law at the wonderful New York Deli here in Santa Fe. You could select 3 of 6 choices served with fresh fruit and potatoes……we selected as choice 1: Salmon, cream cheese, tomato and onion complete with eggs and hollandaise sauce and served of course on an english muffin. Choice 2: Crab Cake, hollandaise sauce, tomato, egg, and again, served atop an english muffin. Choice 3: Avocado, onion, tomato, egg and hollandaise sauce atop the good fresh english muffin. It was soooo yummy. When the waitress asked us if everything was ok I responded that we had eaten everything but the paper on the straw!!! My fav was the crab cake version…..mmmmmm mmmm good. p.s. These were each served on a single muffin side, not the complete muffin…..we weren't complete glutons but close:O) Hugs, Sal

what a lovely morning treat! I had half a sharvil avocado and some chopped tomato, both grown down the road, with some freshly-made raw hummus (sprouted in my kitchen with love), some mung bean sprouts (they were the chickpeas' neighbours on my shelf), a sploosh of evoo and apple cider vinegar… yum and filling and completely raw, alive goodness 🙂

I also have a weakness for egg benny's but I do restrain myself to once every 6 months or so. (I think I filled the quota for this year today and I'm so happy that I did)!!

Have a wonderful, safe, happy, fulfilling trip and squeeze him to pieces while you have him in your arms:O) Hugs, Sal

I had oats and almonds and whole yoghurt and stewed rhubarb and ginger with a glass of warm lemon juice, thyme and honey. It is is my little slither of spring and winter breakfast. Though I would surely like to partake in your meal.. I am so excited to plant tomatoes in our garden next week.

Love to you dear plumey x
