After spending the entire day looking at my computer screen, answering emails and Etsy convos, ordering supplies and sourcing stones, I ran for the hills this evening.
Tonight, it was just the cheatgrass the sky and I;
burning bright and burning out.
Looking West:
Looking up:
Looking East:
Bracing against the wind and watching the world fade into night:
Sometimes, when I sit on a mountain top, I look around me and I ask God this question:
When you made the Earth, why didn’t you make a little more Idaho and a little less of everything else?
I’m a greedy and ungrateful little lady. I know.
That reminds me, did you know Idaho is one of the five states in the union that holds the most wilderness area, in terms of overall acres? No wonder all the wild things move here.
Keep it wild, my sisters and brothers, keep it wild.
Claws, fangs and bushy tails,
The Plume

RAWRRRR I love this I love this I love all of this!!!!!! Wesley! made me cry, he is so snuggly and I just adore barn owls, snowy and graceful. There was a barn owl that adopted my mom a few years back. She was in the barnyard doing chores, heard the swoosh swoosh of velvety feathers in flight, and suddenly there was this beautiful creature on her arm, wobbly, trying to balance. Something had happened to this owl, perhaps a toxic reaction from a crop duster? We were not sure, but for months he would seek my mom out and sit on her arm for a spell and then fly off. Sadly, he met his end on Christmas eve, a Great Horned owl fought him for territory and won. So much life and death out there in that Palouse country. An amazing experience. AND your pictures of the hills and the mountains leave me breathless. I am under the spell of that emotion filled sky.
A good question to ask, yours is. It looks glorious, I wish there was something like that in my neighbourhood. Love your woolly hat, too!
Oh wow! How beautiful!!!
Claws, fangs, and bushy tails; keep it wild!

Idaho is God's country.
On my list of places to visit, especially after reading your blog.
Beauty surrounds you.
I'll have to read " Wesley the Owl". I've had my eye on it for some time now…(my husband's name is Wesley.)
Love your boots!
Have another great day….
Awesome pics!!
I loved reading about Wesley the Owl. If you like that, you will like "An Eagle Named Freedom" by Jeff Guidry. Those two and Shreve's book about Charlie are three of my dearest books.
Perhaps you'll write one and I'll have four books that hold a special place in my heart??
OH, to wear woolly hats again! And boots. I must MUST have cowboy boots this fall. All the better to explore and trop around in.

sBeautiful pictures! Love those wide open spaces. Just have to ask are your boots Double H's? I have some that look alot like that but red.
Gorgeous, wonderful loving comments, as usual. Thank you all so much for taking a moment to say a little something.
1. HOOT HOOT!!!
2. My boots are by Nocona. Big French toe = comfiest boots EVER. I ride in these. They're like wearing candy apples on my toes.
3. Before I write a book about being loved by a wild animal, I need to adopt a wild animal. I'm hoping for a wee moose.
4. You're right. I'm 100% lucky to live in such an amazing place and even 100% luckier that the sky has been so inspiring lately.

Everytime you show photos of this lovely place, my mouth drops open and I wish I were there–in that space, looking down, breathing that same air. It's almost too much. It's all too beautiful.
I just returned from a trip to MT to visit my sis, and there were some similar moments there. But what can I say…when I drove up outta Portland and back to Camas I was in awe, again. It's beautiful here too. I just love those open spaces that you seem to have all to yourself. 🙂
that open space is breathtaking. i can see why you are alway so inspired to create such beautiful things. thanks for living life to the fullest, but moreso, thanks for sharing pieces of it with us.
peace and love…

Thank you all, again, so much for these wonderful comments. I speak on behalf of Idaho, you're always welcome here. There are vistas enough for each of you and sacred space abounds.
