what beautiful photos… I discovered your flickr last night (not sure how I didn't get to it sooner, but anyways) and I got totally lost and absorbed into its beauty! Enjoy your day!
Glorious! Love the glee of the last photo and the beauty of all the others leading up to it. No more snow here, alas (at least for now). My snow dogs send a dash of envy along with their usual hearty greetings. x D
Please…what kind of camera are you using. Your pictures are so beautiful. I would love to document my outings but my pics never, ever look like that. Do u think it is possible to teach oneself photography
Brittan: I'm so glad to hear you found my Flickr!!! With my departure from Facebook, I've been more active on my Flickr page…:) It makes me glad to hear you've been enjoying it!
Doro: "Glee" is the perfect word for that image! Happy running dogs. Tell your fluffies that the snows will surely fall again. x
Rebecca: I use a Canon 50D 99% of the time. If I'm bushwhacking in really gnarly places or climbing with friends, I will occasionally use my Canon Rebel Xti because I'd rather bop it against rock than my 50D.
And yes! I think people can teach themselves how to take wonderful images! There's so much information available to us with the internet right here at our fingertips! I take a ton of photos every single day and my style has really started to develop over the past couple of years with constant practice.
I took 8 semesters worth of graphic arts classes in high school which taught film photography — from spooling film, developing film to darkroom work, I learned it all — so I've done my share of studying photographic theory and developing my own images WHICH I think gave me a great foundation of general camera knowledge that I use now, on a daily basis with the images I'm taking.
There are plenty of classes offered everywhere on the topic of digital photography! If possible, I'd recommend an actual film photography class (I know, I know, it's a dying thing…). Because it's the original format..and I think there's something to be said for learning foundational photography skills before seriously taking on digital SLRs.
If you just want to learn how to use your digital SLR better, I'm sure there are books out there on the topic and I've even seen some FANTASTIC blogs that teach techniques and give image tutorials. Just snoop around a bit and you'll find out all kinds of useful information!
Plum has the look of "the grass is greener on the other side of the fence" on her sweet face. Love the last picture of Penelope smiling loudly! I must admit, I miss seeing you on FB…
Denese: There are a few reasons why I left Facebook, the most important of which is this:
I found myself complaining that I didn't have enough time in a day, so I eliminated something that was taking up some of my time. Presto. More spare time. More studio time. More time to spend with RW and my animals.
Lyns: Well, we only have a working bathtub at the moment, and yes, it was VERY nice. RW is installing a toilet and sink at the moment. Everything should be in like flynn by tomorrow!
Hi Jillian, Thanks for taking me on a hike with you today. I miss winter and the mountains and appreciate your posts. I peruse all your posts and so enjoy the touch of home you bring to this place far away. Blessings, Jo

B: I do apologize for leaving:) But I'm always here!!! xx
I must say that Pocatello seems like a magical, beautiful place- all thanks to the way you convey it! positively dreamy 🙂
I've lived in so many weird places that I'm starting to get really good at seeing all the beauty that abounds between the piles of human rubble…
🙂
This is a beautiful little mountain town though…I'd have to agree. I'm lucky it stays so small — most overlook it.
beautiful scenes..the pooches make me laugh, just too cute! xo
