Wild Dingos

I received a dash of birthday money this year and have been wondering and wondering what to spend those few precious dollars on.  While combing through the vintage boots on Etsy, last week, I discovered this set of wildly sexy Dingo boots.  The size was about right and I snaggled them up before I could even think twice about it!

They arrived in the mail yesterday and I must confess, I really rather like them.

I didn’t expect the leather to be so sumptuous and the cognac color is a total delight.  Furthermore, the stitched eagles on the faces of these deliciously slouchy boot shafts are really, just to die for…there’s some light studding there as well and the entire effect is downright ravishing.  In point of fact, I somewhat feel like I’m wearing Latin lovers on my feet…

The stacked heels are 3.5 inches high, but they don’t feel like it…I’m going to take them over to the local cobbler and acquire some new taps….all in all, I’m rather satisfied in the birthday boot department and I suppose I needed to tell you so.

I’ve been clattering around the house in these babies this morning and I can’t help wondering if the previous owner of these boots loved them like I do…where she wore them…if she was amazed by the buttery nature of the leather….do you ever wonder such things about thrifted or vintage acquisitions? I want to know who that girl was.  I want to know if she blew bubbles in her spearmint gum and if she drove a truck too…

I hope the mailman brings you something
extra special today.
Squander your Saturday wisely, sweet chickadees.

Bootishly yours,
The Plume

Are they made from Dingo leather, or are they just called that because of the color?

    Dingos are cute…but viscous 🙂

Those are the exact reasons why I love vintage items. I have a lot of items that have been passed down to me, and they all make me wonder about the stories they hold. I won't hold on to all of them, but the really special ones I will. I have this hideous covered wagon lamp that has it's own saw and barrels and stuff attached…so ugly but cute at the same time. And a vintage camel saddle that I gnawed on as a kid…as did my much much older siblings when they were kids. I have a statue of my great grandmother, who got knocked up by a hungarian gypsy…the statue is in repose, nude…my cat knocked it down one time and it's head broke off. I bawled as if he had just killed her all over again, but luckily my dear Dave glued it back on again.

  5. I'm so jealous! I love love love them!

Your boot love warms my heart.

I'm about to wear these babies to dinner party. Whatever I can't eat, I'll store in the boot shaft.

Also, Cath, your comment made me laugh SO hard. Love you. x

    And Brandi: Fry's! YUM!!!

Oh I so love vintage treasures and absolutely love to go to thrift stores, if you are ever in Jacksonville Florida let me know and we can hit all the junkie store as i commonly call them I am so terrible I have a route for them and can tell you what each ones speciality is. Isn't that terrible. I am always in search of cowboy boots but a girl size 11 does kind of make it hard to find, even here on etsy. I am so jealous they are wonderful but I love your turquoise one's the best! Those boots were made for talking for sure like the song says.

Fantastico! In a related boot story, my dad came across a pair of boots left in front of a vintage shop that were to be donated. When he looks at them closely, he saw his handwriting on the sole, which means they at some point came through his shoe repair shop, and brought them home. They happened to be my size. They are a similar colour to yours…a heeled cowboy boot with a pillowy embroidered pattern on the boot shaft. I haven't wore them much, because they are not my usual style, but one of these days I need to break them out!
