“I understand how scarlet can differ from crimson because I know that the smell of an orange is not the smell of a grapefruit…Without color or its equivalent, life to me would be dark, barren, a vast blackness…Therefore, I habitually think of things as colored and resonant. Habit accounts for part. The soul sense accounts for another part. The brain with its five-sensed construction asserts its right and accounts for the rest. The unity of the world demands that color be kept in it whether I have cognizance of it or not. Rather than be shut out, I take part in it by discussing it, happy in the happiness of those near me who gaze at the lovely hues of the sunset or the rainbow.”
[Helen Keller, The World I Live In, 1908]
…humdinger.
I picked daffodils this morning
because their yellow hues made my soul sing.
I wanted even more sunshine in my home,
more light for my eyes,
more color.
What hue is twanging your heartstrings today?
orange…that Helen Keller….my gosh!!
…seriously.
We have a row of gorgeous trees on our street and they have been covered with light pink flowers for weeks. They make me smile every time I come home.
Yellow is a nice color indeed~. My bedroom is currently being repainted yellow, though we may start over with a different shade since this one seems to be a tad bit too orange.
The walls were originally a lovely light shade of green, but the paint has dulled over the years and I thought it might be time for a change. Green shall remain one of my favorite colors, though. And after all the storms rolling through down here, outside is nothing but the most alive green imaginable, so I am a very happy girl indeed. =3
Oh, yellow! My daffodils, sitting in a glass on my dresser, died the other day. But I was so busy being uplifted by the springtime outside my door that I didn't mind their loss.
And now: we are in the midst of another blizzard. Everything is white and grey and brown.
I could use some yellow around here.
Crimson roses the size of grapefruits are blooming in the garden. They have my senses under their spell 🙂
I wonder if Helen Keller dreamed in color. I wonder if she would have known.
I need to buy flowers immediately. We're going to get an inch of snow tonight which will at least cover the dreary dead, dry leaves in my backyard.
today i am wearing hot pink and hot coral. so over winter. so ready for summmmer.

We have a beautiful sunshine here after several rainy grey days! I always crave for purple and lavender but yellow is the best for now! hehehe…xo
All the cherry blossoms in Vancouver are blooming, pretty soon downtown with be a sea of pink!
This time of year always reminds me of my grandmother though – he favorite flowers are yellow tulips and daffodils.
certain signs of spring 🙂
my heart is beating the softest hue of blue today
aubergine. i want a big dose of color in my life on this snowy gray morning, including but not limited to robin's egg blue, chartreuse, and the wonderful blue-green of tossed surf. to be honest, i'm rereading etcetera, etc. and am torn between the travelers and magicians palette and the paperwhites one. i'm ready to paint each room a different mood so there's always some place soothing to go no matter how i'm feeling.
The crimson of new rhubarb stalks, and the green of their bunched and springy leaves.

Zeph: I know JUST the hue you speak of. Iris is (perhaps) my favorite flower. I cannot WAIT for mine to begin their bloom!
Belinda: AMEN!
Marie: There's plenty of brown here too, still! But, the chokecherry is in full leaf! Imagine that! And the poppies have started greening — if I can keep Plum off of them, there will be a fantastic bloom this year!
Hmm.. what hue? Perhaps pink.. the pink of a just born babe, like the one I held close yesterday morning <3
Fawn: Ohhhhhhh…..you're going to be a mama forever. Sounds beautiful!
I just picked daffodils too!
