Idaho mule deeer antler cross sections, sterling and akoya pearl.
After the tufts of fur and hide are gone,
after the sinews of back strap and rump have been consumed,
all that remains is bones.
The wings of a pelvis,
the shapely rounds of femur ends nibbled by voles
and these long, pronged antlers, grooved
and echoing with velvet ghosts,
ringing with the lusting war of the rut.
To honor the remains.
To (further) breathe a dash of immortality into these
ruins of white.
To remember the long legs that once wove
through willow, sage and mountain stream.
I do.

i love these antlers…so much beauty. i have a little collection of slices myself i've been hoarding for over a year now…waiting to get all my smithing ducks in a row 😉
These are so beautiful!
I don't know what is more gorgeous, the earrings, the intentions, or the words.
i'm fairly wild.
but: i still enjoy a cup of earl grey tea, honey and cream.
[if i were to wear these in the woods: would the moose follow me?? would a wolf hunt me down and try to eat me??]
Love these – I saw your tweets as you were creating and I'm glad that they came out as gorgeously considered as the animal deserves them to be. You lady are amazing. 🙂
Thank you THANK YOU every-sweet-one!
SB: I'm not the first or the last to use antlers in jewelry design! Can't wait to see what you do with yours!!! x
