It’s been a right crazy week
and I will now tell you about last night:
Last night, Plum was sick, all night long. She spent a full eight hours howling or pooping or doing both at the same time. I didn’t sleep a wink and I had the responsibility of cleaning everything up this morning.
I was feeling downright depressed by noon.
I went to the post office.
I took myself out for lunch.
While lunching, I wrote one of my best friends a letter and told her all about it.
When I looked over what I had written, it all seemed so funny to me! I laughed out loud, where I sat, alone at my bistro table.
Then, to really cheer myself up, I went out and bought a new houseplant.
Jasmine.
When I walked past it in the nursery, one of its tendrils grabbed my hair and I knew I had to take it home with me. Additionally, it smelled so dang blasted good, it would have been sinful to have left it behind.
Sin.
Full.
Now, despite the horror of last night and this morning, I have wings on my heels.
Sometimes we take everything so seriously.
The moments in time that we find so blindingly affecting and stressful are mere drops of water in the oceans that are our lifetimes. Sometimes those things that stir us up and make us blue are nothing, in the grand scheme of things.
So.
Put your wings back on your heels.
And fly.
Don’t let anything pin you down.
That’s what I did.
xx
:::Post Scriptus:::
I’ve owned these mustard tights for over two years and just today I put a big snaggle in them, is that a great lifespan for a set of tights or WHAT???
:::Post Scriptus Scriptus:::
The world smells so amazing right now!
I’ve shut my mouth and resorted to
nose breathing because I don’t want to
squander a single opportunity to smell
the squelch and hum of nectar on the breeze.
:::Post Scriptus Scriptus Scriptus:::
Who’s going camping this weekend?

oh gosh– what did you do, catch them on the ceiling?! you are one mad leaper, sunshine! and in heels, no less.
glad that plum is better and that you are, too.
xoxo
you are just pure sunshine!!!
{hope the baby girl is feeling better … organic, unsalted chicken broth always helps with re-hydration, or Pedialyte if she'll drink it :)}
XOxo
Janet: I sure am. And do you know what? A emerald green hummingbird just bonked into my office window — a sure sign that life is peaches and cream.
L: She is better today. I'm actually going to give her a snack and then take her and Farley running. x
You know how to fly!!
(just tell me, did your dogs look at you funny when you were taking those pictures?)
NO! They were all curled up like doughnuts on their dog beds! They didn't even notice. I have to do something REALLY crazy to get their attention these days…they're desensitized to my zanies.
"put you wings back on your heels and fly…don't let anything pin you down" A beautiful sentiment, and such darn good advice…thanks for breakin' it down sister!!! I swear somebody could compile a book titled, "Plumes words of wisdom"…It would be a hot seller for sure!
Ooh girl……give 'em hell — in a peaceful kind of way…
🙂
And about that book……..constantly working on it though it won't be ALL wisdom…ha ha!!!
Your outfit is amazing!! Purple and yellow. Nice. Also, you are so sassy and your jumping is so sassy. Love it all, babe.

My jasmine plant bloomed one flower, once, and it was beautiful. Then it contracted some strange disease. Eric said he thought it was too hot by the window, so he moved it to a different room, and then it died altogether.
I was quite sad.
I am dying to go camping this weekend. To sit in the sand by the lake and read a book.
But alas, work calls me, drags me back.
C: Why thank you, Queen of Sass. x
Deanna: Make a blanket fort in the living room, read a book with a headlamp and then sleep in your wee fort and play one of those CDs that massage therapists use…you know…with the water on a shore sounds or bird song.
Dearest Jillian,
You have no idea how much I needed to hear this! There must be some messy cosmic stuff hanging over our heads, because I'm feelin' it…bad!
Here's to keeping chins up, taking life less seriously, and keeping our spirits soaring high!
Much love to you,
-lu
How is the dog? restrict food, rice and boiled plain chicken..and if she's not better..a call to the vet is always a good way to go.
I think it's safe to say the dog is fully recovered since she just jumped through the screen in the screen door to go and greet the mailman…I don't know if our house is going to survive this german shorthaired pointer puppyhood!!!
Hope Plum is all better now. xo
Next time my day is full of *merde* I'm going to
join you and fly around your living room with you! Love your photos.
going to the ranch…not camping, but pretty darn nice! What are you doing?
I love that moment when humor gets the best of tragedy. Your post put me in mind of this gem:
"Your hand opens and closes. If it were always a fist or always stretched open, you would be paralyzed. Your deepest presence is in every small contracting and expanding, the two as beautifully balanced and coordinated as bird wings." -Rumi
…and I AM, I AM! (Going camping, that is.) Even though it looks like rain and I have an eye infection. Bound to be a great opportunity for finding the humor in these things. Tra la la!
Glad her Plumness is feeling better.
One of my massage clients refers to massage music as "dolphin birthing music." It does kind-of fit.
M: PLEASE do. You're miles from here but I can always see your bright. xx
Michelle: Ranching is the next best thing to camping. I'm…..prepare yourself for it….ANSWERING EMAILS THIS WEEKEND!!!!! Taaa daaaa!!!! I've had so much going on this week that I've fallen WAY behind and will have to sacrifice my weekend for some good and honest hard work! But I don't mind. I'm thinking of taking Talulah and the dogs camping in the middle of the week, next week….once the crowds have subsided! GIT ALONG LITTLE DOGIE!!!! x
Jenna: That's a fantastic quote. And this weekend, you're going to make MEMORIES!!! Have a wonderful time! Make a banana boat for me!
Steph: GUFFAW!!!! I'm going to refer to it as such form now on!!! x
love your freeform jumping cavorting heelkicking! with mustard tights, no less!!
glad plum is over her illness.
poor you: if i were closer i would have been there to help clean up.
truly.
x
wow!
lila and yellow=really nice!
Amen to the flying and the perspective:
and Capezios are great leaping boots, right?
xoxox
Hi Plumey! Haven't stopped by in a while, it's nice to see you up and about, jumping around after a bout of ick in the night! Have to share this…
I owned a pair of yellow mustard tights in grade school (1970s) I wore them one day and kept thinking something was off…I asked a classmate if I looked like McDonalds, Yes you do- she replied…after that I knew not to ever pair a bright red dress with those tights.
You wear everything so well my dear. 🙂
It smells amazing here too. I stole some lilacs from my alley-neighbor on Thursday.
It's so tough when our fur babies have tummy troubles…and WHY does it only seem to happen during the night? I always keep a can of plain pureed pumpkin on hand (not pumpkin pie filling) for those emergencies, vet recommended it and it works wonders!
My jasmine is in full bloom right now, it makes me smile every time I walk in my front door 🙂
Our Jasmine smells so divine right now! Whats not to adore about it 😉
Future reference: Canned pumpkin works great as a treatment for dogs with the runs – and they love it! Just don't freak about the orange poop the next day…
And this is why I simply adore your blog. =3
hey there, i've been following your beautiful blog for a while now – quietly appreciating your delicate and warm words (and lusting after your artistic creations!)
these words really threw some light on my thoughts today! i've been feeling so weighed down lately with some sudden life changes going on, but your words really reminded me to move forward gently and with patience and love. (a vague description of what's going on with me, but i'm thankful nonetheless!)
..and i am going camping next weekend 🙂 to this swell place with even sweller friends http://www.google.com.au/search?q=kanangra+boyd+national+park&hl=en&rlz=1R2SUNA_en&biw=1131&bih=602&prmd=ivnsm&source=lnms&tbm=isch&ei=c0fiTcbtA4G4vgPzzaWEBw&sa=X&oi=mode_link&ct=mode&cd=2&sqi=2&ved=0CBIQ_AUoAQ
have a delicious day.
bel
The smell of jasmine is amazing! I always move it close to my bedroom door at night.
Love that you found your spirit wings, hey. Especially in the writing of a silly letter – those letters are the best kind I think. Hope your pup is feelin better today 🙂
