To The Low Country: People Of The Deer

I’ve been working on a photo series called “To The Low Country:  People Of The Deer” and it’s been quite a lot of fun!  I don’t know if I’m truly capable of following through on a series concept (I’m so easily distracted, all the time, by new ideas), but I’m trying my hardest to write a few poems and dashes of prose to go with some of the images.  If you hear about it again in the future, you’ll know I was successful in seeing the project through!

  1. Good luck! (when I first saw this photo I thought you had used a model – you look gorgeous!)

  2. Beauty…

  3. this captured image strikes me dumb, yet: i repeatedly return to look upon it.
this captured image resonates a feeling deep within me: a feeling without words.

  4. keep going, please!!
i love how your images and words create something magical 🙂

  5. yes. yes. yes.
and i believe with all my heart that you can absolutely follow through.

  6. now that’s a woman in her element! stunning.

  7. I think only you could evoke 1940s old Hollywood while cradling antlers. Just lovely.

The more important something is, the more I tend to flit…which well and truly gets on my Capricornian goat…and which is also why I’ve spent the past two days looking at pictures of bears (???) and that shower scene is unwritten.

Here’s to finishing that which stirs us.

  12. Can I just tell you how in love with this image I am? IT’S TRUE.

Also, I can’t help BUT always work in series… I think it just takes me that long to really flesh out an idea, to understand it from all angles, to dig and dig and dig. Really I’m a process whore and I love it.

  24. Hey! Thanks for all these kind comments everyone! I shall proceed with the project to the best of my abilities! Watch for more of it in the future. xx

  25. I like the sound of this project very much indeed… I confess I am living with a man of the deer (as we speak Alex continues to construct to-scale deer’s head out of cardboard, glue, brown paper and drafting pins). Yes, we wish we lived in the woods too.

  26. I so greatly admire your eye for form…something with which you must be born, I believe.
This gentleman’s photos are an inspiration, perhaps they can help keep you moving forward with your project?
