I think we should design the PERFECT autumn picnic — RIGHT HERE, right now. I’ve been told to bring antelope kabobs which is *all systems go* but I’m ALSO going to bring beet pickles and a loaf of crusty bread.
Ha–kiwifruit! Yes well, unfortunately I suck in the kitchen, as a general rule and my mummy isn’t here to cook for me. (I suppose I could bring Vegemite sandwiches…) =)
Alright tasty morsels.. how about some aesthetic touches! I’ll bring a patchwork quilt, pottered mugs to drink hot cider from, and some colourful fabric bunting to hang overhead in the treetops. ;o)
But really, how do you get those wild focus/fuzzy shots (macro. manual focus??) Crazy beautiful, every time.
Much like yourself.

How to do those wildly focused fuzzy shots? Manual focus…and focus on the thing you think no one else would ever focus on…the thing that looks prettiest of all, to you. Voila!!! π
That was the most fun I’ve ever had reading through comments! I am not sure what I am bringing to the picnic (maybe some soup and perfectly aged cheese) but I will definitely be there ; )
The picnic’s not over. I’ll bring chocolate covered espresso beans and my guitar to serenade all you fun lovin’ gals. Save me a piece of that flour less chocolate cake, please!!
Mmmmmm!!! We need cider too! HOT! Maybe hot buttered rum as well — I just had my first taste last night at a dinner party and bonfire, it was a wonderfully warming drink!
I’ll bring a bit o’ the South (my husband is from New Orleans) with fried okra plus aioli for dipping, hot buttery biscuits and jam, and his grandma’s perfect, cannot-be-replicated potato salad!
Hi. I just found your blog via Tiny House Swoon. I love it! I love it for many reasons: first, your work is exquisite! and….I am a photographer, wilderness-lover, collector-of-items, low-tech-livin’ kind of girl myself. Your writing is simply wonderful. p.s. I know you disabled comments on your antelope post, but I must say I was deeply moved by that post. I tan elk and deer hides, and my vegan friends have had some choice words for me. However, the hides are often left in the field anyway. I might as well make beautiful purses with them β₯
Hey Kerry! Glad to see you here. I saw you added me to your Flickr contacts yesterday and snooped around your website for a while — beautiful, bony, feathery, photography that sings of the beauty of the natural world!!! Thanks also for appreciating my hunting essay — that means a heap to me. XX
Okay.
So, you make antelope kabobs, and I will make apple pie with sage and cheddar crust. We will have ourselves a merry lunch!
That pie sounds like something to LIVE for.
OOooooh, yum that all sounds sooo good. Can I join in if I bring some elderflower wine?
Elderflower wine is VERY VERY welcome!

that sounds so lovely!
i’ll cook up a big pot of cinnamon applesauce with apples picked fresh from the trees in the yard.
Mmmmmmmmmmmmm…
Oooooh, I like this post more and more.
If we’re going to have a crowd…in addition to the apple pie I also make a mean flourless chocolate cake!
I think extra dessert is a MUST. Especially if I bring the smokejumpers. They all have sweet tooth issues…
How about pumpkin scones? π
You have my stamp of approval!
How about some most delish butternut squash… buttered and seasoned of course.
APPROVED!
Girl, that outfit is FLY. And those are such plum-like apples! Just beautiful.
Well, thank you!
I knew there would be a postcard-worthy shot in there…freshly plucked!
…I make a pretty good apple crumble.

I’ll be the first to testify that there isn’t any apple quite as delicious and perfect as a perfectly ripe, home grown, Washington apple.
And, from you??? I want something with kiwi fruit.
XX
Delicious, aren’t they.
Ha–kiwifruit! Yes well, unfortunately I suck in the kitchen, as a general rule and my mummy isn’t here to cook for me. (I suppose I could bring Vegemite sandwiches…) =)

AHHHHH!!!!
Best. Picnic. Ever.
You can bring some freshly concocted woolly scarves for us, so we don’t take a chill.
It took a few days, but the scarves are done.

Beautiful Photos <3
Thanks, little beauty. X

No.
You are.

I know! You’re all such good sports!
We could use some soup and cheese.
Bring it, sister.

even though [you KNOW] i love you in all your glorious finery and colours, i am really drawn to that photo of the apples on the ground under the tree.
that’s all.
I love that shot too. Beautiful, natural decay.
The picnic’s not over. I’ll bring chocolate covered espresso beans and my guitar to serenade all you fun lovin’ gals. Save me a piece of that flour less chocolate cake, please!!
Eep!
Music!
Oh, so glad for a chanteuse!

I’ll bring a Vat of Vino!
Oh, brilliant Autumn… your photos transplant us all to that orchard!
Xoxo

Those apples are perfection!
Aren’t they? They’re Snow White apples — blood red, rosy skin and the most pristine, alabaster flesh once you bite the red away. Beautiful.

& these autumnal pictures stir my heart… Sigh.
Perfect, perfect offerings. I’m glad to stir your heart sister. Think of you often. XX
