I’m trying a begonia as a house plant as well as a geranium — they are so broad and leafy and blooming right now! They bring the joy. When we arrived home from Washington, I discovered that our friend/renter had killed a dozen of my house and studio plants! I nearly cried. I did manage to bring an orchid back from the abyss of the compost pile, much to my delight and relief. All else was lost-er than lost and dead-er than a doornail. Fortunately, I thought to bring home ten house plants from our summering home (to RW’s great distress) and to be fair, the hens, are as precious, fluffy and alive as always!
Other news: This morning, RW and I are aunt and uncle to another nephew! My sister just had a baby. I can’t wait to meet him. Also, I brought back the Nomads.
It must feel good to unfold your wings in that larger home once again. I know that all will bloom under your care. Another vanishing soon, to see the babe?

I had my hunter hunting a plane ticket for me last night:)
Also, it’s amazing how much SPACE there is in our house. When I stand in the kitchen here, I am only in the kitchen. At LCITW, when I stood in the kitchen, I was also in the living room, the dining room, the entry way, the office, and at times, I could straddle the threshold to the bathroom as well:)
A new wee one… what a delight!
Oh how I admire those who can keep house plants. I try (and try) and must send them regularly to my mums for her to bring them back from the edge. I do not have any houseplants currently…. so I fling open my doors and enjoy the wilds.
Some have green thumbs and some do not! I’ve noticed that plants need to be shifted around a lot, depending on the season and the light coming into a house. I just keep moving them around and experimenting with water until I discover what they love…I like it that you FLING OPEN YOUR DOORS!!!!!!!!
Did the fern make it? It never fully recovered from my near murdering it so I’m doubtful it could survive a whole summer of neglect!
It made it.
But it needed some major TLC.
Congratulations! How wonderful it is to be an Aunt!! Hope both your sister and baby are recovering well from the labour. xx
All sounds well!
Oh, I love being an Auntie! Congrats to you and your family.
Thank you! I love it too. 🙂
“home sings me of sweet things. my life there has its own wings.”
dang. it’s good to have you home.
Where is that quote from, my friend?
a karla bonoff song [“home”] from the 70s.
