A good one for a Monday afternoon:

Open the windows in the house so you can hear the sound trickle out to the garden where you’re working the dirt, tickling plants and the sun is warming your back.  I’ll have it cranked out in the studio, where I’m working on packaging and shipping, and Rob is getting our raft ready to roll.  Happy Monday you darling little pack of savages.

PS  Thanks for sending this one over, Jacinta.

PSS  Any good book on tape suggestions out there — one that will make Rob and I laugh and think aloud at each other as we drive?

  1. love and light my friend!

    love and light

  2. Have a beautiful time!
    xx

  3. Kokie Larson says

Have you read The Fault in Our Stars (John Green) yet? So good, a bit sad, and full of questions.

  4. I love that you refer to us as ‘savages’, it cracked me up while I am stressing out preparing lecture notes and problem sets…I don;t have any suggestions though frequently my nerdy husband would leave voice mail messages that were chemistry lectures and I thought they were hilarious…see you later j xx

  5. Have you ever read “A Walk in the Woods: Rediscovering America on the Appalachian Trail” by Bill Bryson? Its really good and has some pretty funny parts!

  6. Elizabeth Waggoner says

Try Tom Bodett “The end of the road”, read by himself. Great one for travel. Lots of fun. Have a good trip. Be careful. 😉

  7. I loved the book “Endurance” by Alfred Lansing, which tells of the incredible Antarctic voyage made my Earnest Shackleton and his incredible crew. I don’t know if you library offers downloadable audio books… But the Salt Lake one does, and this one’s always available!

  8. Thank you for this, it’s been the tune of my morning.

  9. I recently read B.J. Novak’s book of short stories, “One More Thing: Stories and Other Stories”, and thought that it was just okay (some of the stories are amazing and thought-provoking, others were kind of funny, others seemed pointless). But then I read that he performed most of the stories by reading them aloud to live audiences and that they got a great response. And THEN I read that the audiobook is awesome and has many guest-readings by Mindy Kaling, Lena Dunham, etc. So I think I would probably recommend the One More Thing audiobook, since you said you were in the mood to laugh and think!

  10. I second “A Walk in the Woods” – light and amusing.

  11. Love the song and thanks for the introduction to Mike Flannery! Have a wonderful raft trip and hope the fish are biting (sorry, no thoughts on the audio books, I’m a written word on the page type of gal).
