The rutted ice sank beneath a skiff of fresh powder and we began to swoop our way upward, faster, into the thick timber, into the temple of trees; the temple turned to lace and the lace turned to sky and we fell into a rhythm of quietude and the washing over of grace, which is painful and sublime, like waves softening stone.
Oh my soul.
It’s so easy to soften to places of such beauty. Blessedly.
It’s effortless.
Do you have snow now?

Little frosted points. Lovely.
Lovely and fresh!
oh that last shot of Tater’s butt! sorry – of course the other shots are beauty-full…that one just made me snicker.
…he has such enormous ham hocks!!!
Ha – Ty might still win on that count I think! (Those pitbull mixes might always win on that count)
Oh my soul! That was beautiful, all of it.I’m excited for what is yet to come for the two of you-congrats to you both.
Lovely, lovely, lovely. Always eager to read & enjoy your new posts which never fail to amaze me.
“the temple turned to lace and the lace turned to sky”
I think I might forever think of this when gazing at the snow covered treed ridge line. It makes my heart go pitter patter.
simply: amen.
The snow over the trees…I miss this now here, we have less and less snow (an island in the most southern west part of Canada, almost to the Washington state border) we have 3 days of snow and the rest is rain (and sun like today!) and a wide forest covered in snow …how I love this!!! It reminds me when I lived in a skiing resort in the Alps in France… I can smell the trees, the fresh air, the noise of the skies on the snow, the dogs feet on the ground, the cold air coming inside the nose, the silence due to the snow that covers and quiets everything…like if it was yesterday! Beautiful!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
I never asked (and I don;t know if I can) what camera do you use? Once a I saw Canon written on one of your pictures…which one do you use? If you can reply if you can’t, never mind.
FARLEY THE GREY!
Stunning. Much love.
Hi Plume,
I have been totally enthralled by this blog since I stumbled upon it about September 2014. Coming here to your pictures and stories sort of kicked me square in the heart. I had been a little lost and I am feeling more “found” these days. Inspired to go out into the bush and not stall on fear. I have had my camera out too and feeling more than a little inspired by your photographs. I’ve been shy to say hi & thanks…so here I am saying “Thanks for all you do”!
@Nathalie-what isalnd are you from? I am from Salt Spring…you must live on a gulf island also! 🙂
