As I left, I changed my mind
turned around, reached for my camera
swept through the doorway
across the gravel
(and the tornado of dove feathers there from the
hawk kill
two days ago)
down to the river where the
sky gently burnished the
whitewater orange in the
rage of light that comes on
so gently
at the end of day.
That first photo is IN. CREDIBLE. The light, oh the light.
They just keep getting better and better! The river has SOUL, doesn’t it? Beautiful shots, Jillian.
In the first photo, the bugs look like fairies! Great shot! Love your little doggie, what a good buddy!
I agree! So glad you mentioned that. They DO look like fairies. Magical!
I love the way you see the light.
Glad you changed your mind and turned around!!!!
astoundingly beautiful, the photos and your poetry….
Xx
*Gasp!* upon seeing the first photo and then my heart beat faster with each one after! Every single shot is magical and wild beauty, plain and simple. Amazing.
Those colors!! That first photo makes me want to crawl inside of it somehow.
I just listened to Arvo Pärt on Spotify and his rendition of “MY HEART’S IN THE HIGHLANDS”, which I’ve never heard before came on. Somehow… it immediately made me think of you. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=acnH6M1Ee8k
@Elizabeth: Do you know SPIRITED AWAY? Your comment regarding the river’s soul just made me think of the film and the river spirit/god featured in the story. It’s all true somehow 🙂
Johanna – I don’t know that one, but will look it up. I really believe that if we pay careful attention we truly can hear the pulse and rhythms of the earth.
I’ll have to remember to listen closely.
Love following along on your journey, feels like we are there beside you, enjoying seeing the world thru your eyes. I love the feather photo, amazing.
Sweet hugs,
