Dessert!

RW and I just finished dinner. It was scrumptious. Utterly scrumptious.
1. Steamed string beans from our summer garden.
2. Spaghetti squash with brown sugar and butter.
3. Leftover mashed potatoes from Thanksgiving.
4. Small cuts of elk back strap (steak) and small cuts of antelope back strap (steak).
Oh Lord. I’m a bottomless pit. I’m considering taking some spaghetti squash into bed while I read my book…it’s the time of year for eating. That it is.
Well. I was hard at work today between 6:30AM and 5:00PM.
The pretty provisions include BUT are not limited to (THAT’S RIGHT! I’M NOT SHOWING YOU EVERYTHING!):

[Burro Creek Jasper & sterling silver]
This Ring + Jillian = Proof of Jillian’s addiction to tall rings.

[fresh water pearl & sterling silver]
A recent exploration and exercise in balancing!
I was inspired by the sandstone formations of Utah whilst in Arches National park the other week and found myself sketching all sorts of wonky designs that feature hollow formed portions of metal balancing on all sorts of things. I love how they look slightly precarious but are utterly stable. Just love it. This isn’t an every day ring and should be reserved for the times when you feel you need to kick a little aesthetic *SS…for some of you, that might be every single day and I, as your procureacle (not a real word) of fine jewels, will support you in that.

SHAZAMMM.
[agate, grey moonstone & sterling silver]
Every time I make an Inbetween Ring I feel like I spend the majority of my day saying shazammm. It’s because this design has stature and strength despite the fact that it is an attempt to depict the itty bitty building blocks of organic matter! Small and mighty. Tiny and strong. That’s the cell. Do not take this one home and show it to momma. She’ll confiscate it and send you to bed without your dinner. It’s so pretty but so doggone bad to the bone.

[cactus opal & sterling silver]
What to say about this necklace.
Only one word suffices: Perfect.
I take all sorts of details into consideration whilst designing a piece of jewelry around a stone. I like a finished piece to be balanced. I usually achieve this. But let me say, this necklace is PERFECTLY balanced despite the extreme asymmetrical nature of the design. Plus it features a positively delightful cabochon in demure shades of pink, peach and brown. Oh Lordy. I don’t know if I can let my people go when it comes to this one. LURVE.

These little beauties and little beasts will be in the Etsy shop for your consideration sometime this week!
I hope you’ve had a lovely day!
I’m off to snuggle RW in our new skyscraper bed!
Love,
The Noisy Plume

Speaking of Binding Things in the Darkness:

One ring to rule them all:

[amazonite, garnet, sterling silver and one magnanimous heart]
She’ll make her way to the Etsy shop tomorrow with some other goodies!

::::::Cheese Please::::::Retitled: theworstblogpostever

Holy cats. I’ve been fighting with the photo upload department on Blogger for the last
who-knows-how-long. I’m feeling hungry and I’m feeling tired and I’m feeling like I want to get in a hot bath and then lay down in my bed with my large white dog and my little red dog and fall asleep until the sun comes up tomorrow. Because the sun will come out
tomorrow
bet your bottom dollar on tomorrow…

The number one reason why I shouldn’t be a motivational speaker is because I am extremely hypoglycemic and I crash like The Oceanic Six when the BSL starts to drop.
Someone.
Please procure a slice of cheese for me.
Now I feel bad for feeling so crummy because Farley just walked up and plopped his big brown jowls on my arm and sighed like he was saying, “Momma. Why haven’t we gone for a run yet today? Now it’s dark out and you’re not going to want to go. But you SHOULD go, and take me with you because then I won’t feel inclined to eat your favorite pair of boots.”
Yeesh. Guilt trip.
This is a postview instead of a preview of the shop update today. I tried to squeeze in my standard preview but I’ve got to be honest, today has been a proper zoo of a time. Eating and blogging were two priorities I failed to meet, so let’s do both now:

A wee little tea and crumpets brooch complete with a hole in the spout, a lid on the pot and a dangly little tea bag sprouting out from under the lid. It’s cute. It’s headed for Canada. Sorry. I should have let you know about it’s existence prior to the shop update. Wheeeeee!!!!!!
If you’re feeling broochy, I’ve got a few designs up my sleeve that I plan on
whipping up between now and Friday. It is, after all, scarf and sweater season.

Numero deux: A Keeper of the Fields Necklace. This baby is one huge, shadowbox medallion. I gave Mister Jackrabbit a chrysoprase heart, because all he thinks about is alfalfa — one track mind. I really like this necklace, all the details of it. The scalloped baseplate, the satin finish inside the shadowbox; I swirled in one direction only and you can see the sweep on the metal surface — quite nice. I also like the chain quite a lot. The three hoops coming off the bail. The bail….yep. I like it all.
And now I’m going to go make some toast. If you see my husband, while he’s away elk hunting, please tell him to come home because I need to be fed, the house is a mess, and I don’t have any groceries. And my right sinus feels under the control of some sort of allergy. And my feet are cold. And Penelope was bad. And I need my new bed put together because the new mattress and box spring are arriving tomorrow.
It’s a miracle I ever
make it through the
summers.
Tomorrow I’ll be less tired, hungry, tired and hungry.
I love you.
J
PS When I woke up this morning, there wasn’t any milk. But you could probably tell that already. Argh.
PSS This is officially the worst blog post I have ever written.

PSSS Sorry about that.
PSSSS At least you now know, without a doubt, that I am a human being and not a robot.
Robots don’t need to eat…though they ARE covered in shiny metal…..hmmmmmmm.
PSSSSS Mmmmmmm. I feel better already.

Oh Sistah

Hola!
And a happy Friday to you! It’s been one of those days where even getting up at 5:30AM doesn’t get me ahead in the scheme of things. I leaped straight out of sleep this morning, sent RW on an elk hunt, scurried around town, cleaned some stuff, finished two necklaces that I didn’t manage to finish earlier this week and I’m just getting to the Etsy shop update. Golly. I feel like I’ve been having an out of body experience for the past three weeks. But I’ll talk to you about that later on, face to face.

I’d like to introduce you to Miss Cameo. I’ve made a few cameo girls but this little lady is probably my favorite so far. The entire piece is four 20 gauge sheets deep if you count that little bow in this chickadee’s hair. I’ve set this sweet countenance inside a shadowbox that has a scalloped edge — for extra sweetness. The pendant hangs on a burly, long chain that IS adjustable but I think she looks best worn long.

I FINALLY finished this necklace this morning. It’s been a work in progress for a couple of weeks now. Here we have a shadowbox pendant with some abstracted metal work inside the frame and out. The green cabochon is aventurine and there’s a cultured freshwater pearl sticking off the shadowbox frame. This piece wears beautifully and is really quite fascinating to look at, incredibly organic in spirit and a perfect weight. I love the juxtaposition of dark and light metal, etched metal, soft green stone and lustrous pearl. EEK!

Oh dear me. This is a simple looking ring but let me tell you, this is one fantastic cut of amethyst sage agate. I had one of my favorite lapidary artists cut this stone for me with an exceptionally high dome, as such, this stone is so beautifully nuanced it might make you pass out when you first slip it on your finger. I’m unable to capture the detail of this stone with my camera, unfortunately, so you’ll just have to trust me. It’s amazing. It’s chunky, tall and fine. Oh sistah it’s fine.

Ok. This is the other ring I made this week. Don’t you love that band? The texture on it looks sort of like a cactus bone. If you live nearby any cholla cactus patches you’ll know what I’m talking about. This band also has a little surprise inside it — I’ve hand written “Soul Garden” inside the band and it looks divine. That will be a habit from now on. Writing on ring bands.

This ring holds Stone Canyon jasper in magnificent hues of mustard, periwinkle blue and forest green. Hang onto your petticoats women. I went bonkers buying a few mustard colored stones a few weeks ago. This is one of them.
Golly, Hey Rosetta! is singing to
me right now and it’s
making me want to bop around.
And bake.
And sing.

I’ve got a handful of other lovely things for you but I fear if I preview everything I’ll run out of daylight and have to walk the dogs with the cougars. See you in a jiffy!
Love,
Plumeyetta
PS OH GOSH! I forgot to announce who the heck won the antler necklace!
I had my Saskatoonian friend Michele generate a random number for me,
she’s always so nice to volunteer for the job,
she’s let me know that Lindsay Michele is the winner!
So hey, Lindsay Michele, please drop me a line at
thenoisyplume@gmail.com
and let me know where to ship your little bit of nature!
Thanks to everyone who entered the giveaway contest!
What a lovely basket of plums you are!
:::EDIT:::
Dearest Lovers of Antlers:
That was a frightening display of speed shopping.
I can see I’m going to need to make more of those things…
🙂

Tunnel Vision (and a giveaway!!!)

Since I’m waiting on a shipment of bezel to arrive at The Gables I’ve been fooling around with an idea I had months ago.
Antlers.

I just finished making six single antlers.

These delicate little sterling objects are fabricated from scratch though they kind of look like they were cast from a single mold. Each antler is built from five individual pieces of sterling that are cut, filed, forged and then soldered together. But, I have to be honest, the little detail on these antlers that has me most excited, besides the texture, is the fact that each one has a pedicle (which is the lumpy little portion of the base of an antler that connects to the head of a deer). When I take a close look at these little trinkets, I find myself thinking, “Well jeepers! These look like the real thing!”

I turned the prototype into a necklace on a long chain with some hallmark charms jangling about on it. It’s quite the bauble for a nature girl, a girl with the name Fawn, or anyone who likes nature inspired jewelry. I plan to incorporate these antlers into a few other design projects I have at the moment. Hush hush….
I have antler tunnel vision, they’re all I can see at the moment….

The five antlers you see here today will be available in the Etsy shop on Friday! I hope you’re all having a scrumptious Wednesday. We’ve got grey skies but I’m not feeling under the weather at all. I JUST registered for spring semester classes at ISU, I’m wearing yellow and a long ponytail and I’m off to make another pot of mint tea. Be well my birdlings!
Love,
PLUME
PS
In a moment of:
Feeling utterly overwhelmed by your generosity, kindness and constant encouragement.

Feeling shocked while witnessing just how many of you have passed through this blog
since I posted this blurb about these antlers…

The antler will come equipped to flaunt on a long, sexy chain that will dangle said piece of nature most sensually between your personal topographies (hee hee);
hallmarked with my maker’s mark as well as my trademark bird button.
A gift to one lucky person. If you’d like to enter please
