Ello ello!

I think it’s been raining here for 10 days straight.  My lawn looks like the Grinch who stole Christmas and I’d have mowed it a week ago had it been dry enough in these parts to pull-start the lawnmower.
Raining cats and dogs I’d say…it’s been tall socks and boots weather.

Things have been hot in the studio the past few days, regardless of the weather.

And this is some of what I have to show for those long hours:

15 rings
one bracelet
12 necklaces (7 more nearly finished on my work bench)
5 brooches
and half a belt buckle
[some of this jewelry will find it’s way to the Etsy shop on Monday]

Inventory for Missoula is looking up to par and I’m starting to relax a bit…

Having the mister home and the damp weather has made me happy to take a restful Sunday for myself.  We’ve been spending today reading, baking and preparing dinner for a host of friends coming to Plume Gables this evening.  I’m wearing my swankiest socks and RW will pull on his cowboy boots before the ladies and gents arrive.
IN CASE YOU NOTICED, YES, RW IS READING A BOOK FROM THE TWILIGHT SERIES.  HE’S ADDICTED.
ALSO, YES, THOSE WALLS ARE SPONGE PAINTED MUSTARD YELLOW..  I CAN’T DECIDE WHAT COLOR TO REPAINT THIS ROOM…SO IT’S SPONGEY MUSTARD FOR NOW…
Happy Sunday to you birds.
SMOOCH,
JSL

Should it stay or should it go….

Yeesh.
Oh woe is me.  Life is such a struggle.
Every day I make a gazillion pieces of jewelry and I want to keep every single one
(always a sure sign of a grand and cohesive design).
I think the only reason I actually take the time to sell some of my work is to ensure that in a pinch, I can overcome my selfishness!  FOR I AM VERY SELFISH INDEED.
Today’s question:
Should this ring stay or go?

[imperial jasper & sterling silver]
It’s June!
Land sakes!  I think this month has been stalking me for days on end…I was unaware but now it’s pounced and thrown me backward onto a green lawn.  The sights and smells around town are far too heady for this girl.  I live life floating about in the dreamland of the stratosphere but the burst of summer in Idaho is too real and I’ve been strolling around like a real human being lately, taking it all in, contributing as best I can, to the drift of seasons.
After all, aren’t we, at some time or another, inducing snow melt with the warmth of our selves,
dropping our leaves, shivering like tall, naked elm trees along the river?
Aren’t we all pushing our way up from the earth and splaying our leaves, petals, stamen for the sky to witness?  Aren’t we at some point fostering, nurturing and showering our energy into something good, something more than our selves?  Aren’t we all part of a greater whole, a cycle that cannot be ignored? Don’t we all move like steady lines into the horizon, fading away into ashes and dirt when our earthly bodies fall asleep for good?
Each one
of us
is a burning sunset,
the North Star,
the long circumference of the equator,
a mouse nest in the Arctic,
the cotyledons of a radish in a steady row of radishes…
or at least, the nature of these things can be found in the chambers of our souls.
This season is summer, we make it warm.
And when the rain falls, things grow up and out of the palms of our hands
if we let them.  If we don’t stand in the way of our selves.
IN 20 DAYS
WE’LL MEET THE SOLSTICE HEAD ON
AND I WILL MARVEL AT HOW THE ORDER OF THE UNIVERSE BALANCES
SO PERFECTLY ON TOE TIPS WITH HARDLY A WAVER.

Today I feel very good.  Let us know how you feel and collectively, we’ll all push you up and out of that space into something even better, because that’s what this little community does best.

Le jam et le jelly!

FIRSTLY:
As it is Memorial Day here in the USA I want to offer my thanks to all the men and women who served in and alongside the many branches of the American armed forces and fought and kept peace alongside my Canadian forces over the past couple of centuries. Thank you for your sacrifice and service.  Thank you for your sense of duty.  Thank you for doing something that I’m not strong enough to do, perhaps even too cowardly to do.  Thank you.  I remember you today and I won’t ever forget you.
Next:
Sometimes wonderful folks stop by for some jelly and to jam on my front porch as evidenced in the photo below:

My snarky neighbor to the North did plenty of glaring as a guitar, bass and girl did some singing but for the first time in days, I wasn’t phased at all by her grumpiness!
What a miracle!

Of course, Allison loved and adored Mister Pinkerton, as was to be expected, but Penelope and Farley received their share of loving as well.  So did I.

The visit with this girl was too short, too happy and too gorgeous in every way.  I’ve got the shakes and the sads from withdrawal.  But the music was beautiful and it will carry me through.  If you live in an area where Matt, Phil and Allison are playing you should really attempt to make it out to their show.  Not only will you hear Allison and her songs but you’ll get to hear the fantastically talented Matt and Phil sing their songs as well which is more treat-a-licious than freshly baked chocolate-chip-cranberry-oatmeal-cookies and milk.
I successfully took an entire weekend off
but spent today in the studio smithing just for you.
The night thickens and I’ve got a date with RW to watch Hidalgo so
I’m going to list it all lickity split!

Gentled But Not Broken Ring [kingman az turquoise & sterling silver]

Selah Ring [carnelian & sterling silver]

“Wisdom Is… Necklace”  From The Word Definition Series by The Noisy Plume

Soul Garden Necklace [laguna agate & sterling silver]

Sooper Dooper Fantastic Circus Earrings
[sterling silver, coral & agate]
There are actually three other rings I plan on listing this evening as well.  If I don’t get to it all you can look for it tomorrow!
I hope your weekends were relaxing.
SMOOCH,
PLUME

Les Nouveaux

I know the Etsy shop has been awfully quiet but I HAVE
been working like a woman possessed.
The pieces I finished yesterday are all quite burly or hollow formed (which always takes a bit more time).  But here’s an overview of my new inventory as of last night:

The leaping salmon holds lots and lots of Soul Garden Necklaces and a few new hollow form pendants (which are so terribly fun to make).  Despite my stress inducing work load I’m swinging my hammers with joy.  I’ll have company until next Friday but I’ll do my darndest to drop a few tasty treats in the shop over the next week.
My darndest.

Thanks to everyone who zealously dropped me an email and requested that I sneak them a necklace under the radar this week!  I cannot!  The good news is that I’m not about to retire.  There will be plenty of good things to come in the near future.  Thanks, as always, for your amazing patience.  You’ll win something grand, soon.  I promise.
Happy Saturday to you all!
I hope you squander your weekend well!
XO
PLEASE NOTE:  THE PIECES SHOWN HERE WILL BE AVAILABLE AFTER JUNE 14TH.

For being a human, I’m sometimes very human.

First of all, enough of Missoula.
Today I’m making beautiful things just for you.
This ring included:

Crafted from lemon chalcedony and sterling silver.  It features my new embellishment detail that I’ve been scared spitless to show you for fear that the design concept will be stolen lickity split by someones who enjoy bruising the heart and soul of a girl.  But yesterday a friend told me that I lead the pack and that I’m gifted which made me feel a bit better and brazen enough to abandon all caution and show it to you anyway.
HERE’S TO RECKLESSNESS.
Secondly, I’ve been a bad bad friend for about two or three weeks now.  I do not answer my phone, I have not answered my emails, I have double booked visits and then canceled on people…you name it. I’ve done it.  And if I have done it to you YOU this week, please accept this rather public apology and know that when your life is a literal wad of crap hitting the fan, I’ll try to be just as gracious and offer you forgiveness before you even ask for it.
Because sometimes it is human to overlook the travesty of humans acting very human.
Indeed.
I’LL TRY TO HAVE THE NEW STUFF PHOTOGRAPHED AND INTO THE ETSY SHOP THIS EVENING.
XO

PS  Is it just me, or have the first couple of weeks of May sucked…besides the gorgeous time spent in the garden.
Now I’m living on the edge of my seat, not knowing when RW might leave town.
Last night, his crew went active and he could be anywhere by the end of the day.
Grrrr
Well here’s my pledge, from this day forth, May will UN-suck.
Because I said so.
