Grey Day

It has been so lionishly GREY here today.  We’ve had skittering thunderstorms rolling in over the West Bench for most of the afternoon.  At some point, I looked out my studio window into the huff and puff and blister and blaster of the weather pouring down from the mountain tops and I knew I had to combat the drizzle with some color before the storms blew my house down.

I made these four necklaces.
Zing!
Pop!
Crack!
Zoot!

(What the heck is a zoot?)

These are sizable, enameled pendants strung on delicate sterling chain.  They host my maker’s mark as well as my soul tags.
Simple and beautiful.
They’ll be in the shop in mere moments.
Toodaloo!

Gosh.
Is anyone else hyper right now?

Solo

I’m just in from a twirl about town.
I traveled by bicyclette and my oh my, the breeze was brisk and the sun was pooling like young amber, musky and musty, light and bright.  The wavering flex of spring shift is falling all around like chandelier crystals on white marble — so pretty and smashing and the delicate light spinning through and through.
The daffodils hold their holy rows.
The world is tossing itself about in shades of green…

I went on a solo date.  The rules for a solo date usually include food, coffee (green tea, in this case), antique or second hand stores, book stores and a camera.

Regardez:
 1.  The sushi was delicious (my pot of green tea overflowed=eth),
as was the pillaging of my favorite antique shop, right across the street.
 2.  Walrus and Carpenter, my favorite used bookstore, held more treasures than usual.
 3.  Will gave me a start from his century old jade tree (it belonged to his mother and her mother before her, before it became his…).  I’ve been begging for a piece of this plant for a year and a half…..most politely.  You’ve never seen a jade tree like this.  The trunk of it is at least as round as my leg, just above the knee.  How lucky am I to own a small piece of such a fantastic chloroplastic dynasty?
4.  My trusty steed was heavy with bits and bobs but we cruised the sidewalks and greenbelts with utter grace.

This was my first time out and about in my little community on the South end of town in roughly two months.
How did I get so busy?
How did life get so wild?
Well I’m simmering down now and taking my time.  I was supposed to take one day off…but it has turned into three.  You’ll have to forgive me that!  I thank you in advance!!!

Fact:
I love it here.
And I think here loves me too.

The Quiet Ones No.2
[sterling, copper, enamel, silk, pink coral and silk cord]
This is my current soulscape.
Did I tell you before?
Oh.
Well, I’m telling you now.

I can’t stop thinking about this series.
I’m even dreaming about it.

I find myself laying in bed longer than usual in the morning, aligning my heart with bird chant and the wind in the Austrian pine out back.
There’s a stone cold emotional purge, the hopscotch of springcoming, the bowing forth of honesty — so silent in its truth.  Gosh!  Life can feel so thick with goodness and vitality even in the most crushing moments.
Mine is the dumbest tongue in all of North America right now,  sometimes these things need their quiet and their space.

Did you ever learn to be patient with your self?
I’m learning now.

Post Scriptus:
Silvery Cotswold arrived here again today.
Ain’t she a beaut?

Small Burn

We had a small fire tonight,
just RW and I.
The animals leaned into the warmth,
Mister Pinkerton draped himself across my knees like a rumbling snow panther,
and the sky was nightly glowing.
We whispered plans,
we sipped our drams
and the scent of sage was sweeping by like satin ribbons on slim anchors.
We hope your Sunday evening has been just as warm and crackly.
